TORONTO – A Cleveland man somehow survived a car accident despite being ejected from his vehicle and sliding across a highway.
Ohio State Highway Patrol released dashcam footage Tuesday of the January incident on YouTube. In the video, a spotlight focused on a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Edward Wallace on Interstate 90 (I-90).

As his vehicle veered across multiple lanes, Wallace was ejected out of the driver’s side window according to a police report. He can eventually be seen sliding across the slushy asphalt and came to a stop in the right lane.
A police cruiser – that just happened to be merging onto I-90 at the time – pulled up directly behind Wallace to shield him from further injury. As the officer’s vehicle came to a stop, Wallace pushed himself back to his feet and stumbled off the road.
Wallace suffered only minor injuries and was cited for “willful and wanton disregard for safety” – known as reckless driving in other jurisdictions.
Authorities released the video as a reminder of the perils of winter driving.
“Crashes like this one from January serve as reminders to be careful when driving in winter conditions,” the police department said in a Facebook post. “Slow down, pay attention, leave distance between yourself and other vehicles and always wear your safety belt.”
