TORONTO — Singer Jonathan Knight of NKOTB revealed Tuesday the secret to having clean underwear while circling the globe as a competitor on The Amazing Race: Hotel shampoo.
“You use your knuckles like a washboard and you get in there and you get it really clean,” the 46-year-old said. “You concentrate on the areas that are extra dirty. You don’t want to be skanky-a** going through these countries.”
Knight and his partner Harley Rodriguez appear on the new season of the popular reality series — but Knight said being a famous pop star didn’t get him any special treatment.

“The Race is dirty and gritty and you’re in the trenches,” he said.
In an interview that aired on The Roz and Mocha Show on Toronto’s KiSS 92.5, Knight said he packed only four pair of underwear and washed them in hotel sinks when he could.
How often was it necessary to wash his knickers?
“It would depend what country and what challenges,” Knight said. “If we were in a hot country then you’d have to definitely wash the underwear out.”
NKOTB will soon kick off a tour with TLC and Nelly that stops May 5 in Vancouver, June 28 in Toronto and June 30 in Montreal.
“It’s going to be cool,” Knight told KiSS 92.5. “I’m so excited to tour with TLC. I’m a huge fan of TLC. ‘No Scrubs’ was one of my break-up songs.”
