The release says the child was taken to hospital in an ambulance but gave no information the child’s condition, age or gender.

But sources tell Global News the child was a newborn, located in a stairwell: and that officers believe the person who called to report the presence of the baby was actually the mother but she hasn’t yet been located.

Witnesses told Global News paramedics arrived and entered the hotel with a stretcher, but took the stretcher away and later emerged with a bundle carried on the shoulder of one paramedic. Sources say the child is healthy.
