Users of the free classified listings website Craigslist encountered a cryptic error message early Tuesday.
The message claims the site is down due to violations of Craigslist’s own terms of service, trademarks or other intellectual property.

The message caused some confusion and frustration among web surfers, who took to social media to try and get to the bottom of the mysterious outage.
