WINNIPEG – A fire killed five horses and destroyed a barn at Oakbank, Man., early Wednesday morning.
The barn was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the scene at 3:45 a.m., a fire official said.

The fire, which may also have killed some cats, was likely accidental, he said, pointing to a heat lamp as a possible cause.
Oakbank is a small community about 20 kilometres east of Winnipeg in the rural municipality of Springfield.
