Calgary science fiction fans are helping a small boy with a rare disorder.

One-year-old Sawyer Kai, has a muscle condition which requires a tube in his throat to help him breathe and swallow.

The Calgary Comic Expo is auctioning off a rare “Ovo-morph egg” from the movie “Aliens” to help pay for Sawyer’s care.

Heath Kai is Sawyer’s Dad.

“It’s still up in the air as to whether he’s going to walk effectively or whether he’s going to walk or need surgery or what. We might need to have a wheelchair ramp or a lift system in our house, those sorts of things, that’s what we’re fund raising for, for the future.”
