LAPD officer Brent Rygh was tired of responding to calls of struck pedestrians around El Camino High School in Woodland Hills, California.
He told CBS that he sees drivers speeding in a school zone and illegally using the bike path in the right shoulder to bypass traffic every day.
“Parents are afraid to send their high-school age children to school on their bicycle because it’s just too dangerous,” he said.

Determined to serve and protect, Officer Rygh posted this message on several neighbourhood Facebook pages:
Rygh says he uses social media because it acts like an extra pair of hands or eyes, and it simply raises awareness.
He is even posting photos of those he has handed tickets to, after blurring out identifying information.
“If social media can help me impact the problem, then I’m willing to give it a try,” he wrote on Facebook.
