EDMONTON – Police are investigating an alleged assault at the Edmonton Remand Centre involving Patrick Clayton that left two guards with minor injuries.
Clayton, convicted of taking nine hostages at the WCB in Oct. 2009, made only a brief court appearance this morning before his lawyer Arnold Piragoff asked for an adjournment.
“The incident raises concerns about Mr. Clayton being able to proceed today,” Piragoff said.
Jason Maloney, spokesman for the Solicitor General, said the incident occurred mid-evening.
Two officers were treated for minor injuries at the scene, he said.
According to police, officers were called to the remand centre to investigate a minor assault.
No charges have been laid.
Clayton’s sentencing hearing will continue Monday.
