Seniors receive some Christmas cheer from Westin Bayshore for 35th year

For many seniors in Vancouver, the highlight of the Christmas season came today in a hotel.

The Westin Bayshore invited 200 people from residential care homes for a three-course turkey lunch, complete with young carolers and a visit Santa. It was the 35th year the hotel has put on the event, which they call a “Christmas to Remember”.

“I think for many of them it’s an outing with their peers at a very special time of year, particularly if they don’t have a lot of family or friends,” says Bob Chapman, Director of Residential Care for Vancouver Coastal Health.

“It gives them an opportunity to go out and celebrate and have a bit of holiday cheer.”
