Poor visibility as fog hovers over Winnipeg

Dense fog blankets Winnipeg Saturday morning. Talia Ricci / Global News

A blanket of heavy cloud has covered Winnipeg and surrounding areas, causing near zero visibility.

Environment Canada issued a fog advisory for much of Manitoba Friday afternoon, which remained in effect Saturday morning.  The warmer weather and light winds have contributed to the dense fog.

A freezing rain warning has also been issued for Gillam, Manitoba.

The fog will likely stick around until Sunday, where Winnipeg could see a 60% of rain.

Areas in the fog advisory include:

– Island Lake – Oxford House – Gods Lake
