The protesters want funding to build a 25-kilometre all-weather road that would allow safer travel to and from the isolated community.

Winnipeg’s drinking water comes from Shoal Lake First Nation and gives Winnipeggers some of the best drinking water in the world. Residents in the community have been under a boil-water advisory for 18 years.
