KELOWNA – A malfunctioning engine block heater caused a vehicle fire in Kelowna Wednesday night.
A passerby noticed the flaming car at 11:00 p.m. in the driveway of a home on Lindsay Drive and alerted the three sleeping residents.

Seventeen fire fighters made quick work of the blaze but plastic on the garage door was melted.
The Kelowna Fire Department advises people using block heaters to have the proper size extension cord and plug into a grounded fault breaker.
