Montreal airport evacuates domestic passengers, employees after ‘small fire’

MONTREAL — Passengers travelling from Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport were evacuated due to a “small fire” on Monday.

Stephanie Lepage, a spokesperson with the Aeroports de Montreal, told Global News that the evacuation was a preventative measure to ensure the safety of airport passengers and employees.

“There was a small fire on a construction site, not inside the building.”

“Everything is under control,” she added, noting that the evacuation only affected the domestic jetty.

Passengers and employees were evacuated from the airport for 25 — 30 minutes, during which time all domestic flights were suspended.

Lepage confirmed that just one flight was cancelled as a result of the evacuation.
