Thousands still without power

OKANAGAN — The candles are still burning for some Okanagan residents after the power went out as a result of heavy snow.

Most of the BC Hydro outages are on the westside of Okanagan lake, with pockets ranging from Summerland to West Kelowna where there are multiple outages.

The estimated time of the power coming back on is noon today.

Some in the Peachland area have been without power since Tuesday night.

According to BC Hydro’s web site, there are 29 outages in the Okanagan/Kootenay areas, affecting more than 1,500 customers.

There are also 29 reported outages in the Thompson/Shuswap areas affecting more than 2,400 customers.
