TORONTO — Is a long-delayed movie version of the ’60s TV western The Big Valley being shot in Canada? The answer is no — but here’s why there was confusion.
Late last year, production schedules listed a project titled Big Valley that was going to shoot in the province for more than two months beginning in late March.

Turns out that Big Valley is the code name for The BFG, a movie based on the 1982 children’s book of the same name by Roald Dahl.
Directed by Stephen Spielberg, the film will star British actor Mark Rylance as the titular “big friendly giant” and young newcomer Rudy Barnhill as Sophie.
Dahl’s story was adapted for the big screen by Melissa Mathison (The Indian in the Cupboard).
