Big jump in Albertans getting the flu vaccine

The number of Albertans who have received the flu shot has jumped significantly over the past week.

So far, 848,771 people in the province have been vaccinated – an increase of nearly 46 per cent.

In Calgary, 347,781 people have received the flu vaccine. In Edmonton, 275,494 people have been vaccinated.

Influenza A is by far the most predominant flu strain with 133 diagnosed cases in the province.

45 Albertans have been hospitalized with lab-confirmed influenza, and six people with the flu have died.

There’s been one death in the Calgary zone, 3 in Edmonton, 1 in the North and 1 in the South zone.
