Ipsos Decarie conducted an exclusive poll for Global Montreal on their attitudes toward the NDP leadership race and whether their votes would change without Jack Layton as the party leader. Here are some of the highlights.
Next Leader Of The NDP:
Don’t Know 49% (48% French / 56% English)
Thomas Mulcair 40% (42% French / 28% English)
Brian Topp: 7%
Importance of Next Leader Being Bilingual:
Essential: 84% (87% French / 68% English; 80% Montreal / 88% rest of Quebec)
Important but not essential: 12%
Importance of Next Leader Being A Quebec MP:
Essential: 14% (16% French / 6% English; 13% Montreal / 15% rest of Quebec)
Important but not essential: 51% (55% French / 31% English; 46% Montreal / 56% rest of Quebec)
Party Supported During Last Federal Election:
NDP 47%
Bloc 25%
Conservative 14%
Liberal 10%
Green 4%
Party Support Assuming Preferred Choice for NDP Leader WINS the Leadership Contest:
