SASKATOON – The Saskatoon Fire Department dealt with an odd odour inside an apartment building Sunday.
Residents reported a burning sensation in their eyes and throat around 12:30 p.m.
Firefighters quickly arrived at 1425 Embassy Drive and entered the building using breathing apparatuses.
A noxious odour was confirmed on the second floor and occupants were evacuated.
Fire crews ventilated the building using fans while the Hazmat team took samples. The residue was determined to be pepper spray.
Saskatoon police interviewed witnesses and determined that someone had been maced earlier in the hallway.
Residents were eventually allowed back into the building, according to the fire department.
No injuries were reported.
