It was business as usual- almost- after a water main break turned part of the parking lot at Northland Village Mall in northwest Calgary into a small lake.
At around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, contractors were drilling in the parking lot when they hit a water main.
Part of the east parking lot was covered in a pool of water up to 25 centimetres deep.
The water was shut off as crews dealt with the cleanup.
A small amount of water entered the mall and one store, Designer Depot, reported damage in its entryway.
The mall’s Tim Hortons initially wasn’t serving coffee because of concerns over the safety of the water.
By 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon most of the water had been drained away, revealing the hole in the pavement.
