TORONTO – Sam Sotiropoulos, the school trustee who said he “reserved the right” not to believe in trans persons, lost Monday night to challenger Manna Wong by about 2,000 votes.
Sotiropoulos has been the source of controversy over the past four years and especially in September when he drew criticism for tweeting that he “reserved the right not to believe” in transgendered people until he sees scientific proof.
That tweet led to complaints from parents, teachers and students who circulated a petition requesting the school board take action against the trustee.
