Here are some of the election highlights for Southern Ontario.
PERTH-WELLINGTON
Liberal environment minister John Wilkinson has lost his riding of Perth-Wellington.
He was defeated by PC challenger Randy Pettapiece by a very small margin.
Pettapiece is a former municipal councillor for the North Perth council.
Wilkinson has been an MPP since 2003 and was appointed Environment Minister in August 2010. He has also held the Revenue and Research and Innovation portfolios.
KITCHENER CENTRE
Liberal minister John Milloy is facing a tough fight in Kitchener Centre.
Milloy, the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, is barely leading his riding, against PC challenger Dave MacDonald.
MacDonald has been a weather man at the local CTV television station for 42 years and is also a general manager at a local radio station.
Milloy has been an MPP since 2003. He has also been the Minister of Research and Innovation. He has also served as Legislative Assistant to former Prime Minister Jean Chretien.

HAMILTON MOUNTAIN
Liberal Revenue Minister Sophia Aggelonitis has been defeated in the riding of Hamilton Mountain.
She lost to NDP candidate Monique Taylor.
Taylor is an assistant to local city councillor Scott Duvall and long time community activist. She has also campaigned to save the McMaster Emergency Room.
Aggelonitis has been an MPP since 2007. She has held several cabinet portfolios, including Minister of Consumer Services and Minister Responsible for Seniors.
Prior to entering politics, she served on the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.
SIMCOE-GREY
Ontario Green party leader Mike Schreiner has failed to win a seat in Simcoe-Grey.
He lost to longtime PC incumbent Jim Wilson. Wilson is currently the Deputy Speaker of the Ontario Legislature and the PC critic for the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. He was also a minister in previous PC governments, holding the portfolios for Health, Science and Technology, Northern Development and Mines and Environment.
Had Schreiner won, it would have been the first seat for the Green Party in the Ontario legislature.
WINDSOR WEST
Liberal candidate Teresa Piruzza has held onto her party’s seat of Windsor West.
The seat was previously held by Liberal minister Sandra Pupatello, who chose not to run this election. The open riding was targeted by the NDP, who hold it federally.
Piruzza defeated NDP candidate Helmi Charif, a small businessperson.
Piruzza is the executive director of employment and social services for the City of Windsor and is the municipal representative with the Windsor-Essex Local Immigration Partnership Council.
HAMILTON CENTRE
NDP leader Andrea Horwath has handily won her seat of Hamilton Centre.
She defeated Progressive Conservative challenger Don Sheppard and Liberal lawyer Donna Tiqui-Shebib to keep the seat she has held since 2007.
Horwath has been leader of the Ontario NDP since 2009 and is the provincial party’s first female leader. She has been an MPP since 2004, previously holding the riding of Hamilton East, which has since been dissolved. She has also been a Hamilton city councillor.
NIAGARA WEST-GLANBROOK
PC leader Tim Hudak has won back his seat in Niagara West-Glanbrook.
He easily defeated Liberal challenger Katie Trombetta, a former Mayor of the Township of West Lincoln, and NDP challenger Anthony Marco, a secondary school teacher and podcaster.
Hudak has been an MPP since 1995. He has held several cabinet posts in previous PC governments, including Minister of Northern Development and Mines and Minister of Culture, Tourism and Recreation. He was chosen as PC party leader in 2009.
