Wynne refuses to cancel Question Period after Ottawa shootings

TORONTO – Ontario premier Kathleen Wynne received a standing ovation from Liberal and opposition MPPs Wednesday morning for refusing to cancel question period in the wake of a shooting on Parliament Hill.

Wynne said she “refused to be silenced” by violence and continued with normal proceedings.

One person, reportedly a soldier, was shot near the War Memorial in Ottawa Wednesday morning.

It’s still not confirmed how many suspects there are or whether they’ve been arrested. Ottawa police have confirmed one person has been shot.

Ontario’s minister of community safety Yasir Naqvi asked residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
