Gonzalo caused serious damage in Bermuda last Friday before it made its way northeastward. Canada was fortunate enough to not be directly in its path.
Surprisingly, Gonzalo maintained its hurricane strength despite moving into somewhat cooler parts of the Atlantic Ocean.
On Sunday, the storm became a strong extratropical cyclone as it crossed the Atlantic.
When the U.S. National Hurricane Center issued its final advisory on the storm, maximum winds were still 130 km/h.
The U.K. Met Office clocked winds on Tuesday near 104 km/h across many regions. About 30 mm of rain had also fallen.
