Still no verdict in Snelson murder trial

There is still no verdict from the jury in the first degree murder trial of Neil Snelson in Kelowna.

The six men, six women jury is now sequestered, staying in a hotel and eating meals together while deliberations continue.

Starting Monday night, the jury has been going over evidence in the case, trying to decide if Snelson is guilty or innocent in the alleged sex slaying of Jennifer Cusworth in 1993.

The Crown says the 19-year-old college student was strangled, raped and then beaten to death with a blunt object.

Snelson has admitted to having sex with Cusworth the night she disappeared from a house party but denies he is the killer.

If convicted of first degree murder, Snelson will automatically be sentenced to life in prison with almost no chance of parole for 25 years.
