SASKATOON – It’s been nearly 10 years since the Pixies reunion tour and while they made a stop in Saskatoon on Oct 7, the band brought a new addition along, bassist Paz Lenchantin.

“She’s fantastic. She does well. We love her. And what’s better is the audience loves her’, said drummer David Lovering.

They played at Saskatoon’s TCU Place featuring a mixture of beloved classic tunes from albums like “Doolittle” and “Surfer Rosa” to their 2014 release “Indie Cindy”.

It’s been about two decades since the band released an album but they describe the pressure as no different as before.

“From the first record on there was already pressure. Every recording process has pressure,” said lead guitarist Joey Santiago.

While the band enjoys rocking out to all of their tunes, Santiago and Lovering say there is something special about playing “Indie Cindy.”

“Indie Cindy is complicated and it’s fun to play. It’s a complicated thing. It makes it interesting,” said Lovering.

When asked what’s next for the rock band, Santiago and Lovering said it’s hard to tell, but fans hope it won’t be another 20 years until they see another Pixies album.

“We’re in the talking stages”, said Santiago.
