HALIFAX – Bell Aliant (TSX:BA) says damage to a fibre optic line in northern New Brunswick on Thursday caused an outage lasting several hours.
A spokeswoman for the telecommunications company said in an email that all outages in the province were fixed by about 1:30 p.m.
Sarah Levy said the line damage forced a switch to a backup system, which also didn’t work consistently.
She said the line was cut, but they don’t know how that happened.
The company is also investigating why there were problems with the switch to the backup.
The outages were reported just before midday and lasted for approximately three hours.
