VANCOUVER – Two former B.C. premiers who were once fierce competitors are now facing the same devastating adversary.
For 11 years, Social Credit premier Bill Bennett battled former NDP premier Dave Barrett in the Legislature over the future of B.C.

Last week Bennett’s family revealed he’s suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
Now the same diagnoses is true for Dave Barrett.
“His real legacy is the fact that he inspired a whole generation of people to engage in politics,” said Moe Sihota, former NDP president. “Again, knowing them, people like Glen Clark, John Horgan or myself, we’re attracted to politics because of the way Dave inspired us.”
“And even to this day, in as much as he doesn’t recognize our voice or our faces, you know that legacy still lives on.”
