REGINA – The Battlefords Humane Society has fielded thousands of calls and taken in hundreds of donations since they received 20 abandoned puppies on Saturday.

The pups were found by local hunter Greg Zubiak in the middle of a field.

He brought them to the Humane Society right away. They were in poor health, suffering from dehydration, fleas, lice, and worms.

Shelter coordinator Michelle Spark said on Monday that the pups are doing very well – eating and drinking regularly and becoming very active.

They’ve received over 2-thousand dollars in cash donations for them plus hundreds of food, kennel, blanket and teddy bear donations have poured in over the weekend from all over North America.

“Don’t forget the other animals. We are sitting with 46 dogs right now 34 of which are under the age of 8 weeks,” Spark said.

“If the little orphaned puppies are all adopted before people get the chance to adopt them, we definitely do have other puppies that all need homes as well.”

Since posting the story on Facebook Saturday, the BHS says they have had more than 70,000 views on the puppies.
