UPDATE: The son of homicide victim 67-year-old Esma Lachance has been charged with second degree. Donovan Penner, 47, is in custody and will be in Sechelt Provincial Court on Oct. 15.

The Integrated Homicide Team has been called in to investigate following the death of a 67-year-old woman in Sechelt.
The Sunshine Coast RCMP and paramedics were called to a home in the 5200-block of Selma Park in Sechelt at about 1:30 a.m. this morning. According to Mounties, at the home they found a deceased woman with injuries that appeared to be a result of foul play.
Police arrested a suspect at the scene. The 47-year-old man is currently in custody and homicide-related charges are pending.
According to IHIT, the incident does not appear random and the suspect and victim did know one another. Although the investigation is still on-going, it appears to be a domestic-related incident.
