MONTREAL – The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has announced its latest exhibition: “From Van Gogh to Kandinsky: Impressionism to Expressionism.”
The exhibit includes several hundred paintings, drawings and prints by some of the most famous impressionist and expressionist artists.
“Any painting by Van Gogh is pretty exceptional because he’s really the iconic artist who, in a sense, really embodies everything to do with modern art,” Anne Grace, curator of modern art told Global News.

“He really allowed artists working in the beginning 1900s, 1915, to feel as if, through Van Gogh, through his style they could be liberated.”
It was on view in Switzerland, and then at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art before coming to Montreal.
The exhibit marks a milestone in the Montreal art museum’s history.
It has never before assembled so many valuable artworks in its galleries that support the concepts of openness and freedom equally.
The exhibit will run from October 11 to January 25.
