Officers say small, round, blue-green coloured pills with the number 80 on them are being circulated throughout Edmonton and surrounding communities.

The pills are being sold as Oxycontin, but RCMP say they’re actually Fentanyl.

“The community should be concerned,” said Inspector Kevin Murray.

“RCMP Drug investigators tell me that Fentanyl is 80 times more toxic than morphine.”

RCMP say counterfeit Oxycontin was connected to the deaths of two Saskatoon men earlier this month.

Anyone with information about the drugs is asked to call the St. Albert RCMP Drug Tip Line at 780-460-DRUG.
