Trial of man accused in woman’s 1993 murder hears victim was drunk when killed

KELOWNA, B.C. – A close friend of a young woman murdered in Kelowna, B.C., 18 years ago says the victim was drunk when she was killed.

Pam Cologne was testifying in the trial of Neil Snelson, who’s accused of murdering 19-year-old Jennifer Cusworth after a house party in October 1993.

Cologne says Cusworth was uncharacteristically “touchy feely” towards her during the party and that’s why she knew the woman was drunk.

She testified Cusworth was to join her at her home after the party but didn’t show up.

Her body was found in a ditch the next day, and court has heard she had been beaten and strangled.

Snelson had attended the party and is charged with first-degree murder. (CKFR)
