Alzheimer’s awareness

September is Alzheimer’s awareness month and as President of Alzheimer’s Group Inc (AGI) Claire Webster tells us, she knows the disease all to well.

She spent eight years caring for her mother, who was diagnosed in 2006, while also raising three young children and working full time.

Webster tells Global News all about Alzheimer’s Group Inc, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping those who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease.

The group also provide training for caregivers.

Risky internet behaviour

Hot on the heels of the now infamous celebrity nude photo hacking scandal, Alissa Sklar, the founder of Risk(within)Reason, tells Global News about her most recent work with youth and digital technology.

Risk(within)Reason is a project that focuses on teaching children about the internet and the risky behaviour that can be associated with it.

Sklar has a PhD in Communications and Cultural Studies.

She has taught in the Communication Studies Department at Concordia University and worked in the field of adolescent risk prevention at McGill University.

The Sex Bible

After marking 15 years as the host of Passions, a radio segment on CJAD about love, sex and relationships, doctor Laurie Betito has released her first book, “The Sex Bible for People Over 50: the complete guide to sexual love for mature couples.”

Her message: sex after the age of 50 can be thrilling and fulfilling, but it requires work.

Betito is a clinical psychologist with the Montreal General Hospital.

She is also president of the Sexual Health Network of Quebec.
