Man, 28, killed in apparent hit-and-run north of Edmonton

EDMONTON – Morinville RCMP are investigating after a 28-year-old man was killed in a possible hit-and-run on Alexander First Nation.

Officers say the man may have been hit by a vehicle while walking on a gravel road about two kilometres north of Highway 642. RCMP and EMS were called to the area around 3:30 Sunday morning.

When they arrived, officers found a man in the ditch; he was declared dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Ian Cardinal from Alexander First Nation.

RCMP say they do not have any suspects at this time. It’s not known if alcohol was a factor in the collision.

Officers say road conditions were good at the time.
