Accused killer attended party with woman found murdered in ditch:court

KELOWNA, B.C. – The trial for a man charged in the October 1993 murder of a Kelowna, B.C., woman has heard the accused killer’s DNA matched what was found inside the victim’s body.

RCMP Cpl. Bill Parmar says that in May 2009, police obtained DNA from men who attended a house party with Jennifer Cusworth.

He says Neil Snelson’s DNA sample matched evidence found at the scene.

Parmar told the B.C. Supreme Court trial that police showed Snelson photos of 19-year-old Cusworth but he denied seeing her at the party.

He said Snelson admitted to fooling around with one woman and having unprotected sex with another.

Court has heard Cusworth was strangled and beaten with a blunt object before being dumped in a ditch. (CKFR)
