UPDATE: The BC Coroners Service has identified the victims in Thursday’s fatal crash as Brian Scott Knutson, 48, of West Kelowna, Alma Helen Wert, 70, of Kelowna and Shirley Wakefield, 73, from New Hazelton.
QUESNEL — An early morning crash in Quesnel turned deadly, claiming three lives. The head-on crash happened just after 7 a.m. on Highway 97 south of Sales Road.
Police say a pickup truck crossed the centre line and collided with an SUV. The driver of the pickup, a 48-year-old man from Kelowna, the passenger in the SUV, a 73-year-old woman from Kelowna, and the SUV’s driver, a 70-year-old woman from New Hazelton, all died on scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but RCMP say there was very dense fog and limited vision in the area. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
