CALGARY – Race City Motorsport Park held one of its last races over the weekend as the track prepares to close for good.

Race City’s lease expires this fall and the city is taking back the land.

Officials say the location is needed for storm water ponds for the Shepard Landfill and for access to the ring road.

There is work being done to find a new site for the track.

Counillors say it will become clear in the next few months whether a location outside the city is suitable. If so, racing could begin there in two years time.
