Three men rescue West Kelowna woman from burning home

West Kelowna woman and her dog escaped with their lives after a fire tore through a house on Paynter Road early Monday morning.

The call of a two-storey home fully engulfed came in around 8:30.

The lone female occupant was sleeping in the house and wasn’t aware that her home was on fire.

Three visitors to the Okanagan saw the flames and smoke, and broke down the woman’s door, managing to push her out of a back window along with her large Rottweiler dog.

The men are being hailed as heroes.

Damage to the home is substantial.

The cause is under investigation.
