SCHOMBERG, Ont. – Police have charged a 47-year-old man in the killing of two elderly mechanics at a construction company in Schomberg, Ont., north of Toronto.

Police have identified the victims as James Wilson, 76, of Orangeville, and William Jones, 76, of Schomberg.

Robert Abernethy, of Schomberg, will appear in a Newmarket court today, charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

York Regional Police received a call at 10:25 a.m. on Tuesday about two injured men at James Elliott Underground Construction.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to hospital, where he later died. Police say the cause of their deaths will be determined after autopsies.

Both victims and the suspect are mechanics at the company, one being the shop foreman. One victim had worked at the company for 40 years.
