WATCH: Hwy 1 re-opens after fatal crash involving dump truck

VANCOUVER – The driver of a dump truck with a trailer has died in a single-vehicle accident this morning.

Police say the crash occurred just before the 264th Street off-ramp.

Gravel being transported by the trailer spread across the highway.

“At this time police suspect mechanical failure was the cause of this crash, which has tragically killed the male driver of the dump truck,” says Cpl. Robert McDonald, spokesperson for BC RCMP Traffic Services. “It’s extremely fortunate only one vehicle was involved.”
