On this day in history, August 25, 1984, author Truman Capote died at the age of fifty-nine in the home of his old friend Joanne Carson, ex-wife of late-night TV host Johnny Carson. The coroner’s report said Capote died from liver disease and multiple drug intoxication. Some of Capote’s best known for his non-fiction stories, novels and plays include In Cold Blood and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. At least twenty films and TV dramas have been produced based on his literature.
