“We got here within a very few minutes and made a good attack and saved the fire to just the garage,” said Cpt. Jack Glanville, Edmonton Fire Rescue.

The home owners were inside the house when the blaze started but they managed to get out safely.

Cpt. Glanville says the temperature in Edmonton on Sunday afternoon – which was at 27 degrees celsius – presented difficulty for crews.

“It’s always a challenge for a working fire when it’s this hot out, but we had enough hands to keep the overheating to a minimum.”

Investigators are working to determine how the fire started.
