There’s an unusual but completely natural phenomenon that’s turning part of English Bay and Burrard Inlet blood red.
Numerous people have contacted the authorities concerned it was a fuel spill from a cruise ship but Port Metro Vancouver says it’s a giant red algae bloom.

Massive blooms like this are a product of the right combination of water temperature, tide and timing.
The red bloom could last several days and is not considered dangerous.
