The third annual Okanagan Pride Festival kicked off Saturday afternoon.
Hundreds of people gathered at City Park in Kelowna for the annual pride celebration.
With lots of vendors to shop at and fun activities for the kids, the event was family-friendly and offered a safe environment for the city’s gay community.

“It’s just great that we can be able to celebrate it here,” said organizer Dustyn Baulkham. “There’s other people around the world who don’t celebrate these kinds of rights that we have so it’s great that we can be here.”
Organizers say they expect Saturday’s crowd to top about 800 people.
Last year’s festival saw about 550 people.
