Drowning victim identified at Last Mountain Lake, Sask.

A noble bystander failed to resuscitate 71-year-old John Lebert after retrieving him from Last Mountain Lake, Saskatchewan at approximately 6:00 p.m. Monday night.

 

The victim from Wort, Germany was in a boat with two other male passengers when it capsized. A bystander onshore observed Lebert in distress, jumped into the water and brought him to shore.

Attempts to revive Lebert through CPR were unsuccessful and authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.

 

Life jackets were not worn by any of the boast passengers.

 

The two other boat passengers returned to shore safely.
