Tri It Kids Triathlon gets kids moving

VANCOUVER, B.C. — With the extra two weeks of summer vacation due to the BC teachers strike, some parents are hoping to get their kids off the computers and onto their bikes, into a pool and lacing up their running shoes.

The Tri It Triathlon, organized by Exceleration Triathlon and Multi Sport Club did just that this morning, by giving the young participants the chance to try out triathlons.

“It is quite staggering how limited the movement skills are from some kids because they spend so much time on computers. Physical play is so important. Kids need time to play and need freedom to explore creativity and what their bodies can do,” said Kristine Chambers of Exceleration, in a statement.

The event took place at Templeton Park in Vancouver, and saw the little athletes running, swimming and biking. The course was designed specifically for all kids, up to age 19.
