HALIFAX – Two Halifax-area beaches are closed pending water quality tests after heavy rainfall on Tuesday night.
Municipal officials say Black Rock Beach in Point Pleasant Park and the Dingle Beach in Fleming Park will reopen as soon as the tests indicate that the water is safe for swimming.

They say the move is precautionary due to the overflow of screened wastewater into the harbour.
Lifeguards will remain on duty to advise the public that the beaches are closed.
