TORONTO — Canadian music industry veteran Allan Reid has been named the next president and CEO of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), the JUNO Awards and MusiCounts.
Reid will take over from Melanie Berry, who announced in April she was leaving the job after more than a decade to serve as CEO of Canada’s Walk of Fame.

Reid, a B.C. native, is a former executive at Universal Music Canada who has spent the last three years as head of MusiCounts, an organization that supports music education programs.
“We identified Allan as a proven leader who is well respected within the music industry and beyond,” CARAS chair Ed Robinson said in a release.
In a Facebook message posted Thursday, Reid said he is passionate about Canadian music “so being able to help recognize our amazing talent is a real thrill.”
Reid lives in Toronto with his wife, singer Kim Stockwood.
