Spallumcheen – The owner of a organic farm in the North Okanagan says one of his pigs and the family dog have developed a father-daughter like relationship. Born into a large litter Sophie the pig wasn’t able to compete with her siblings when it came to nursing.

Only a few days old she was just skin and bones and about to die. Richard Quiring says his 17 year old son took in the ailing piglet and nursed her back to health feeding her a milk replacement. It was then that she meet Duke the German Shepherd and the two developed a special bond.
Quiring says the two animals now sleep together in one dog kennel and Sophie follows Duke around constantly.
