TORONTO – A woman accused of stealing a donation box from a cancer charity has surrendered to police.
Emma Anderson, 63, turned herself in to York Regional Police on Wednesday. She was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
Anderson is accused of entering a Yonge Street restaurant near Weldrick Road East on Tuesday minutes before 4 p.m.
A woman was captured on video walking to the counter and ordering some food. But when the employee turned her back, the suspect grabbed the donation box and hid it in a bag.
The entire incident was captured on security camera and subsequently released to the public.
Anderson is scheduled to appear in court on June 4.
